Harm Reduction Supply Distribution
Community Outreach & Mobile Services
In 2018, Evansville Recovery Alliance launched the first free Overdose Prevention and Naloxone distribution initiative in Evansville, IN, taking a grassroots approach to get Narcan into the hands of those who needed it.
These efforts continue throughout Vanderburgh County by monthly community outreach events with a variety of partners, focusing particularly in neighborhoods known to have a high rate of overdose fatalities.
In response to COVID-19 in 2019, we launched the first 24/7 Self-Serve Naloxone vending machines in Evansville and Vanderburgh County. Secondary Naloxone distribution like vending machines involves empowering at-risk community members to pass along Narcan to their peers, saving more lives and fostering a caring community that can act during an emergency.
Delivery Order Narcan & Safer Use Supplies
Evansville Recovery Alliance implemented the first delivery-order program, allowing anyone in Evansville to receive harm reduction supplies by delivery for free, removing barriers and prioritizing connection.
Our Naloxone saturation strategy is directly attributed to a 36% reduction in overdose fatalities in Evansville and Vanderburgh County in 2024 according to the Vanderburgh County Coroner. And a 60% reduction in overdose fatalities in 2025.

workforce overdose prevention
Workplaces are encouraged to include naloxone in their first aid supplies and to provide naloxone training to employees. Employers should consider the likelihood of an opioid overdose occurring in the workplace and develop a plan for immediate care by professional health care providers like ERA, referral for follow-up care, and ongoing support. – SAMHSA
We are available to help navigate overdose prevention in your workplace as registered Naloxone Distributors with the Indiana Department of Health and the Indiana Naloxone Standing Order. We are proud to equip many local companies and organizations with Overdose Prevention Training and Response Kit, for a safer and more prepared community.

era & Macro-b expansion
The opioid epidemic is a pressing issue that impacts individuals and families across the state of Indiana, with Black communities facing unique challenges. Access barriers and stigma contribute to the increase in opioid overdose deaths in certain communities. Our collaboration with Overdose Lifeline’s MACRO-B Expansion aims to provide education, resources, and support to those affected by opioid misuse in Black communities in Evansville.
Part of these educational sessions includes teaching the community about naloxone, the life-saving harm reduction resource that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. MACRO-B was responsible for passing out over 81,000 doses of naloxone in the target ZIP codes between the fall of 2022 and the end of 2024. Attendees will receive free comprehensive presentation, certificate of completion, Overdose Prevention Kits, and connection to our Overdose Prevention and Health Promotion coordinator for additional support.
